Heritage Album Service

tell your ancestor’s story in A Beautiful PHOTO BOOK

Honor your ancestors by doing more than tucking them away in a box. Those photos and papers deserve to be seen and shared, not forgotten in storage. With my heritage album and storytelling services, I turn what you already have into a clearly written, professionally designed book or set of pages your family can actually use. As a bonus, I scan your photos at no extra cost so you keep both the originals and digital copies.

Heritage albums

One of my favorite ways to honor my ancestors is by using my creativity to turn their photos and stories into beautiful photo books and heritage projects. Here are a few examples of pages from albums I have created. If you are interested in working together or want to read the FAQs about my heritage album service, just scroll below.

FAQs

A heritage album is a custom book or set of pages that combines your family’s photos, documents, and stories into a clear, visually appealing narrative you can share and reprint for years to come.

I create thoughtful, art‑driven books rather than typical template photo books. Each one is custom‑designed from your stories, images, and historical documents, so it becomes a handcrafted heirloom that beautifully and uniquely tells your story.

You’ll complete a brief intake form, then we’ll have a 30‑minute call to clarify your goals, your preferred focus (one ancestor, one couple, or a branch), and who the album is for. You provide the photos, documents, and any notes or stories you want included. I can either come to you and do all of the scanning, or you can send your photos and documents to me and I will scan them in my office and return them to you.

Yes. Careful, high‑quality scanning of your photos and flat documents is included at no extra cost, and you receive the digital files along with your originals. Basic cropping and light adjustments are done so they reproduce well in print.

You stay involved at key points, but you do not have to manage the details. After intake, a rough structure and image selection is created, then a draft layout and text is sent for your feedback before anything goes to print.

Short narratives and captions are drafted from your interviews, notes, and research, written in straightforward language that fits your family’s style. You review and approve all text, so names, dates, and details are accurate.

Timing depends on scope and how organized your materials are. A small album focused on one person or couple often takes 4–6 weeks from intake to final proof; larger multi‑generation books may take longer. You receive a realistic timeline before work begins.

Layouts are typically built using proven photo‑book design principles: simple fonts, limited color palettes, clean spreads, and logical chronology so images and stories are easy to follow. However, this will depend on your preferences and if you would like more art incorporated. When you approve the final proof, the book is ordered through a professional printer that offers archival paper and durable bindings.

Yes. At the end of the project, you receive your printed album(s), the scanned image files, and, when the printer allows, a PDF of the finished book for backup or private sharing with relatives.

Pricing is based on the number of photos, level of writing and editing, page count, and printing choices. After your initial inquiry, you receive a clear proposal that separates design/story work from print costs so you can choose options that fit your budget.
